AliExpress Shipping to Canada 2026: Full Guide

AliExpress Shipping to Canada: Everything You Need to Know in 2026

Quick answer: Yes, AliExpress ships to all Canadian provinces and territories. Standard Shipping takes 15–45 days; DHL and FedEx express options arrive in 5–12 business days at higher cost. The CBSA de minimis threshold is CAD $20 for commercial goods, meaning most AliExpress orders are technically eligible for import duties — though small low-value packages often clear without charges in practice.

Canada is one of the most active AliExpress buyer countries outside Asia. Millions of Canadians order from AliExpress every year — hunting for electronics, home goods, fashion, and everything in between at prices that retail stores in Toronto or Vancouver simply cannot match.

But shipping from China to Canada is not as straightforward as ordering from Amazon. Delivery times vary wildly. Customs can add unexpected costs. Tracking sometimes goes dark for days. And if you are a dropshipper sourcing from AliExpress to sell to Canadian customers, picking the wrong supplier's shipping method can destroy your margins and customer satisfaction simultaneously.

This guide covers everything you need to know: which shipping methods actually work, how long they take, how Canadian customs handles AliExpress packages, and how to track orders properly.

Does AliExpress Ship to Canada?

Yes, AliExpress ships to Canada. Nearly every seller on the platform offers at least one shipping method that delivers to Canadian addresses, and most offer several options ranging from free slow shipping to paid express couriers.

Canada is one of AliExpress's largest Western markets, so shipping infrastructure to Canadian postal codes is well established. You can ship to any province and territory — British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut are all supported, though remote northern addresses may have limited options or longer transit times.

The practical question is not whether AliExpress ships to Canada but which shipping method gives you the best combination of cost, speed, and reliability for your specific situation.

Shipping Methods from AliExpress to Canada

AliExpress offers several distinct shipping methods for Canadian destinations. Here is what each one means in practice:

AliExpress Standard Shipping is the default for most sellers and works well for non-urgent orders. It typically uses a mix of logistics networks — often leaving China via a consolidated carrier and handing off to Canada Post for last-mile delivery. Tracking works, and the price is usually free or close to it.

AliExpress Premium Shipping costs a bit more but processes faster through Chinese export and Canadian customs. If you need something in under three weeks without paying express courier rates, this is usually the right call.

ePacket is an older favourite that still shows up on many listings. It offers solid tracking and is generally faster than China Post options. Not all sellers offer it, but if you see it available, it is a reliable choice.

DHL, FedEx, and UPS are the only options when you genuinely need fast delivery. They clear Canadian customs faster, provide real-time tracking, and have professional last-mile delivery networks. The cost is real — expect to pay $20 to $60 USD on top of the product price — but the delivery experience is entirely different from economy options.

How Long Does AliExpress Take to Ship to Canada?

Delivery time depends on three factors: the shipping method you select, where in China the seller's warehouse is located, and how quickly CBSA processes the package at the border.

For most economy shipping methods, you are looking at 15 to 45 days door to door. The variance is that wide because customs processing times fluctuate, and China Post's air freight capacity changes seasonally. November and December are significantly slower due to Singles' Day and Christmas shipping volumes.

Realistically, here is what to expect:

• AliExpress Standard Shipping: 20–30 days on average, with outliers reaching 45 days during peak seasons
• AliExpress Premium Shipping: 12–22 days
• ePacket: 15–25 days
• DHL / FedEx / UPS: 5–10 business days consistently

One thing worth knowing: processing time before shipment adds 1 to 5 business days on top of transit time. The delivery estimate AliExpress shows you typically includes processing, but it is worth checking the seller's average dispatch time separately.

If you are dropshipping to Canadian customers and advertising standard delivery times, build in a buffer. Promising "10–15 day delivery" when you are using China Post Air Mail will generate a flood of support tickets.

How Does AliExpress Ship Into Canada?

This is where a lot of buyers and dropshippers get confused, so let's be direct about how the logistics chain actually works.

When you place an order on AliExpress, the seller in China packages your item and hands it to a logistics provider — China Post, a courier aggregator, or directly to DHL/FedEx/UPS depending on which shipping method was selected. For economy shipping, the package typically consolidates with other international mail at a Chinese sorting hub before being loaded onto cargo aircraft.

For AliExpress Standard Shipping and similar services, the package arrives at a Canadian gateway airport — usually Toronto Pearson or Vancouver International. CBSA (Canada Border Services Agency) inspects a percentage of incoming packages and processes customs declarations. If duties or taxes apply, the package may be held until payment is arranged, or the customs fees may be collected by Canada Post on delivery.

After clearing customs, Canada Post handles last-mile delivery for most economy shipments. Express couriers like DHL, FedEx, and UPS maintain their own customs brokerage and delivery networks end-to-end, which is why they are faster and more consistent.

The handoff from international carrier to Canada Post is also where tracking sometimes goes quiet. You will see your package leave China, and then there can be a silence of several days while it moves through the international postal system. It usually shows up on the Canada Post tracking system once it is in-country and processed.

Canadian Customs and Import Duties

This is the part most AliExpress guides gloss over, so let's be specific.

Canada's de minimis threshold for commercial goods is CAD $20. This means any imported commercial shipment valued above $20 CAD is technically subject to duties and taxes — including GST/HST. This is one of the lowest de minimis thresholds in the world (the US threshold is $800 USD by comparison).

In practice, CBSA does not inspect and charge duties on every single small package from China — the volume makes that operationally impossible. Low-value packages under roughly $20 CAD often pass through without customs charges. But CBSA has been increasing enforcement, and you cannot plan around packages slipping through.

Gifts are treated differently. Gifts sent person-to-person (not commercial purchases) are exempt from duties up to CAD $60. Some AliExpress sellers mark packages as "gifts" on the customs declaration to help buyers avoid import fees. This is a grey area — CBSA has the authority to reclassify shipments, and commercial purchases deliberately mislabeled as gifts are technically not compliant. CBSA enforces this more actively now than in previous years.

What you will actually owe if duties are assessed:

• GST (5%) on the value of the goods plus any applicable duties
• Provincial sales tax (PST or HST) in applicable provinces
• Possible Canada Post handling fee for collecting duties on delivery (currently around CAD $9.95 per package)

For dropshippers importing goods commercially into Canada for resale, the rules are stricter. You are operating as an importer, which means keeping proper records and potentially registering for a Business Number with the CRA for import purposes if you are bringing in significant volumes.

Tracking Your AliExpress Order to Canada

Tracking AliExpress packages to Canada works, but it helps to know where to look and what the status messages mean.

Within China: Tracking updates are frequent and in real time. You will see the package accepted, sorted, and dispatched.

In transit internationally: Updates become sparse. You may see a "departed country of origin" or "in transit" status for several days with no movement. This is normal — packages are in the air or in transit between sorting hubs.

At Canadian customs: You may see a "held by customs" or "customs clearance in progress" status. If duties are owed, you will receive a notice from Canada Post or the courier. Ignoring this notice will result in the package being returned.

Last-mile delivery: Once Canada Post has the package, tracking updates resume normally. You will see "in transit to destination," "out for delivery," and "delivered" statuses.

Best tracking resources for AliExpress packages to Canada:

• AliExpress order page: Shows consolidated tracking with status translated from the carrier
• Canada Post tracking: Works once the package is in the Canada Post system — enter the tracking number directly
• 17track.net: Useful for tracking packages that have left China but not yet shown up in Canada Post's system
• AfterShip: Works well for bulk tracking if you are managing multiple dropshipping orders

If your tracking shows no updates for more than 10 business days after the estimated delivery window, contact the seller. Most sellers will either resend or refund if a package is confirmed lost. AliExpress Buyer Protection covers most orders for 60 days from purchase.

Tips for Dropshippers Shipping to Canadian Customers

If you are building a dropshipping business targeting Canada, a few things will save you significant headaches:

Choose suppliers who use AliExpress Standard Shipping or better. China Post Ordinary Parcel with no tracking is a customer service nightmare. Pay the extra dollar or two for a method with end-to-end tracking.

Build realistic delivery expectations into your store. Canadian customers ordering from a dropship store generally understand that delivery from Asia takes time — if you are honest about it upfront. The problem is when stores promise 10 days and deliver in 35.

Know your duty exposure on popular price points. If you are selling products at retail prices that imply a wholesale cost well above CAD $20, your Canadian customers may be hit with customs fees on delivery. Factor this into your pricing and customer communications.

Test suppliers before scaling. Order samples yourself to a Canadian address and time the actual delivery. What the listing says and what actually happens are not always the same.

Before you commit to a supplier, vet them properly. AliShopping Tools is a free Chrome extension that runs directly on AliExpress product pages. It shows you price history (so you can spot artificial price inflation before a "sale"), supplier trust scores based on store age, feedback rate, and dispute rate, and a risk assessment that flags red flags on the listing itself. For dropshippers shipping to Canada — where a bad supplier means customs delays, customer complaints, and difficult refund processes — knowing your supplier before you list their product is non-negotiable. Frequently Asked Questions

Will I have to pay customs fees on AliExpress orders from Canada?

Possibly. Canada's de minimis threshold for commercial goods is CAD $20. Packages valued above this are technically subject to GST/HST and potentially import duties. In practice, enforcement is inconsistent for small packages, but you cannot plan around avoiding customs charges. If you order regularly from AliExpress, expect to occasionally receive a customs fee notice.

Why does my AliExpress tracking show no updates for days?

This typically happens during the international transit phase — your package is physically moving between sorting hubs or on a cargo flight, but the logistics system is not generating granular scan events. It is normal for economy shipping methods. If tracking has shown zero movement for more than 10 business days after the estimated delivery window, contact the seller.

Can AliExpress deliver to a PO Box in Canada?

Most economy shipping methods that hand off to Canada Post can deliver to Canadian PO Boxes. Express couriers like DHL and FedEx typically require a physical address for delivery. Check with the specific carrier if you are unsure.

What happens if my AliExpress package is stuck at Canadian customs?

Canada Post will send you a notice with the customs fee amount and instructions for payment. Pay it through Canada Post's online system or at a post office. Once paid, delivery usually resumes within 2 to 5 business days. If you ignore the notice, the package will eventually be returned to the sender.

Is it safe to buy from AliExpress and ship to Canada?

Buying from AliExpress to a Canadian address is legal and very common. The risks are the same as buying from any overseas marketplace: variable product quality, potential customs fees, and longer delivery times than domestic retailers. Vetting sellers carefully — checking store age, feedback rate, review quality, and price history — dramatically reduces the chance of a bad experience.

The Bottom Line

AliExpress ships to Canada reliably, and millions of Canadians do it every year without issues. The key is setting the right expectations: economy shipping takes 15 to 45 days, customs may add fees on orders above CAD $20, and tracking can go quiet during international transit.

For dropshippers, the stakes are higher. Your customers will judge their experience based on what actually arrives and when — not on what the AliExpress listing promised. Choosing suppliers who use tracked shipping methods, building honest delivery estimates into your store, and vetting suppliers before committing to a product are the practices that separate dropshippers who scale from those who cycle through refund disputes.
