AliExpress Shipping to Italy 2026

Quick answer: AliExpress ships to Italy via Standard Shipping (free on most orders, 10–25 days), AliExpress Choice (7–15 days, often free), and DHL Express (3–6 days, €15–40). Italian buyers pay 22% IVA (VAT) on all imports — AliExpress pre-collects this at checkout for most orders, so parcels clear Italian customs without extra payment on arrival. Italy has one of the most active AliExpress buyer bases in Europe, particularly for electronics accessories, fashion accessories, home goods, and craft supplies. Since July 2021, EU import IVA rules changed significantly: the old €22 IVA exemption was abolished and AliExpress now collects Italian IVA at checkout via the IOSS system. Italy's standard IVA rate of 22% is slightly higher than France (20%) — relevant for larger orders. This guide covers delivery timelines, the EU customs framework as it applies to Italy, Poste Italiane tracking, active promo codes, and how to detect fake discounts.

AliExpress Delivery Times to Italy — 2026

Most realistic expectation: 12–22 days door to door for standard shipments to major Italian cities (Milan, Rome, Naples, Turin, Florence, Bologna). Southern Italy and Sardinia/Sicily may add 3–7 additional days due to last-mile routing through the national Poste Italiane network.

Factors affecting delivery to Italy

• Carrier at origin: Cainiao Standard (default AliExpress Standard Shipping) typically takes 10–20 days to Italy. China Post registered mail can extend to 30–50 days — avoid for time-sensitive purchases.
• Customs clearance: Most parcels clear at Malpensa (Milan) or Rome Fiumicino customs. IOSS-registered orders are processed quickly. Non-IOSS orders require manual IVA assessment and take longer.
• Last-mile carrier: Poste Italiane handles the majority of standard AliExpress deliveries. BRT (Bartolini) and GLS Italy handle some express shipments. SDA Poste Italiane covers express segments.
• Peak season: Singles' Day (November) and 618 (June) add 7–14 days to dispatch processing at Chinese warehouses.

Tracking AliExpress parcels in Italy

1. Go to AliExpress → My Orders → Track Order
2. Copy the tracking number (common prefixes: LP, CC, UA, or alphanumeric Cainiao string)
3. Paste it at 17track.net — covers the China/Cainiao and Poste Italiane segments in one view
4. Once in Italy, switch to poste.it with the same tracking number for local delivery updates
5. For DHL Express: track directly at dhl.com with the DHL tracking number

Expected tracking events sequence:

• Dispatched from China → Processed by Cainiao hub → Departed origin country → Arrived Italian customs (Malpensa/Fiumicino) → Customs cleared → Handed to Poste Italiane → In transit to local CMP (Centro Meccanizzato Postale) → Out for delivery → Delivered

Italian Customs & IVA — What You Need to Know

EU import rules as applied in Italy

Italy applies the unified EU customs framework (EU Customs Code) to all imports from non-EU countries, including China.

Key change since July 2021: The EU abolished the €22 IVA exemption on postal imports. Every parcel is now subject to 22% Italian IVA regardless of value. AliExpress pre-collects IVA at checkout via IOSS for most orders. Italy's IVA rate (22%) is higher than France (20%) — this matters for orders between €100–€150, where the pre-collected IVA amount is noticeably larger.

Customs duty rates by product category

Important: Customs duty only applies to orders above €150. Below €150, only IVA (22%) applies — and AliExpress pre-collects this at checkout via IOSS for the majority of orders.

Total landed cost example

For a €40 phone accessories order:

• Below €150 → no customs duty
• IVA 22%: pre-collected by AliExpress at checkout (shown as "Import charges included")
• Effective additional cost at Italian customs: €0 (already paid)

For a €220 smartwatch order:

• Customs duty (electronics): 3.7% × €220 = €8.14
• IVA 22% × (€220 + €8.14) = €50.19
• Total duties: ~€58.33 on a €220 item (~26.5% additional)
• If AliExpress pre-collected IVA: you pay customs duty €8.14 + any handling fee only

What if AliExpress did NOT pre-collect IVA? Non-IOSS sellers result in Poste Italiane presenting the parcel for customs assessment on arrival, adding a handling fee of approximately €7 plus the full 22% IVA on the declared value. This is uncommon for established AliExpress sellers but possible with newer marketplace participants.

If your parcel is held by Italian customs

1. Poste Italiane or your courier sends a notification (email, SMS, or avviso di giacenza) with a reference number
2. You may be directed to the local ufficio postale or customs clearance facility
3. Bring: tracking number, AliExpress order receipt (screenshot acceptable), valid ID (carta d'identità or passaporto)
4. Pay any assessed IVA or duty + handling fee (diritti doganali)
5. For DHL Express: DHL's brokerage team contacts you directly with a separate duty invoice

Promo Codes for Italy — June 2026

Italy has its own dedicated ITSS series — Italy is explicitly excluded from the global AFSO series (confirmed in the official affiliate brief's exclusion list) and does not share codes with France, India, Pakistan, Morocco, Algeria, or Bangladesh (the markets that do use global AFSO).

Current status (June 13): Summer Sale ITSS codes expired June 10. The 618 Mid-Year Sale runs June 15–20 — 618 codes (ITTP* series) are live now. → AliExpress 618 Promo Codes Italy 2026 →

How to apply a promo code: Add items to cart → Proceed to checkout → Find the "Promo code" or "Coupon" field → Enter code (e.g., ITSS12) → Click Apply → Confirm the discount appears before paying.

AliShopping Tools displays the currently active code automatically on every AliExpress product page — no need to search for codes separately.

Best Categories for Italian AliExpress Buyers

Lowest customs duty risk (under €150, only IVA applies)

• Phone accessories: Cases, cables, screen protectors, wireless chargers. IVA pre-collected at checkout. Typical orders well under €150.
• Home décor and LED lighting: LED strips, smart fairy lights, small décor items. Low declared value, minimal duty exposure.
• Craft supplies: Embroidery kits, resin moulds, DIY tools. Italian buyers active in craft categories on AliExpress.

Moderate value — IVA pre-collected, worth monitoring order total

• Earphones and audio accessories: TWS earbuds, headphone stands, audio cables. Below €150: IVA only (pre-collected). Above €150: electronics duty 3.7% additional.
• Smart home accessories: Smart plugs, mini cameras, LED controllers. Generally low duty exposure for most price ranges.

Higher duty categories — calculate before buying

• Clothing and footwear: Clothing 12% duty + IVA 22% above €150. Footwear 17% duty + IVA 22% above €150. A €220 clothing order attracts ~€58+ in combined charges — compare with Italian online retailers before ordering.
• Bags and leather goods: 3–4% duty + IVA 22% above €150. Moderate exposure but less severe than clothing.

How to Detect Fake Discounts on AliExpress

During 618 and other AliExpress sale events, sellers frequently inflate the listed price 2–4 weeks before the sale, then "discount" back to the original price. The product badge reads "50% off" but actual savings are zero.

How to check: Install AliShopping Tools → open any AliExpress product page → the 90-day price history chart appears automatically inline on the product page.

• Real discount: Price was €20 for 3 months, now €13 during 618 → genuine saving
• Fake discount: Price was €13 for 3 months, seller raised it to €20 two weeks before 618, now "discounting" back to €13 → 0% real saving

This pattern is especially common in electronics accessories and fashion items during AliExpress promotional periods.
